Youth Ambassadors

Youth Ambassadors Program Fabien Leboeuf

Being a youth ambassador for Development and Peace — Caritas Canada is a unique opportunity to gain valuable first-hand experience in the field of international solidarity, while working closely with our regional animators and youth program officer.

Hired on seasonal part-time contracts, youth ambassadors play a crucial role as spokespersons and leaders of regional youth awareness and engagement efforts. Their mission can include developing new strategies to raise youth awareness, as well as organizing regional education, advocacy or fundraising events for young adults.

In tribute to his ardent youth advocacy, this has been named after the late Fabien Leboeuf since 2023. Leboeuf was our organization’s executive director from 1996-2001.

Who are our youth ambassadors?

Our youth ambassadors represent the following four major regions: Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario and Western Canada.

Charles ONONUJU and Ishara MUNAZI

ATLANTIC

My name is Charles Ononuju. I am a 3rd year Psychology major and Environment and Sustainability minor at the Memorial University of Newfoundland.

I currently hold the position of Youth Ambassador for Developement and Peace — Caritas Canada in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador and I'm looking to diversify my knowledge on international development and sustainability while mobilizing and educating youths in my region in actions for change and raising awareness on the interconnectedness of global issues.

Hello, I’m Ishara Munazi. I am a student at Dalhousie University pursuing a BA in International Development Studies and Political Science.

I was born in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), raised in Uganda and currently residing in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I am a youth philanthropy and community engagement enthusiast.

I joined Development and Peace — Caritas Canada in order to engage in the global community’s struggle for social justice, dignity and solidarity.

Narcia RAKOYOMALALA and Djenabou DIALLO

QUEBEC

My name is Narcia Rakoyomalala, and I am completing a master’s degree in Environment and Sustainable Development at the University of Montreal.

At the intersection of environmental issues, social justice, and international solidarity, my passions are guided by one shared goal: building a more just world.

Curious and committed, I am deeply interested in causes that affect vulnerable communities and in the role young people play in driving social change.

Hi! My name is Djenabou Diallo, and I am a student in International Development and Globalization, as well as a youth ambassador with Development and Peace – Caritas Canada in the Gatineau region.

I’m passionate about social justice and youth engagement, with a strong interest in North–South relations and systemic change. Through my role, I aim to create spaces where young people can think critically, take a stand, and act collectively.

I truly believe that real change begins when young people recognize their power as agents of transformation.

Ana Sofía LOPEZ LARA and Cristina DE FABRITIS

ONTARIO

Hi everyone! I’m Ana Sofía Lopez Lara, I’m 19 years old, I was born in Colombia, and I’m a Youth Ambassador for the Ottawa region.

I’m a university student who loves traveling, learning from different cultures, and growing by stepping out of my comfort zone. I truly believe that the small changes we make today shape the world of tomorrow.

That’s where my passion for social justice and faith in action comes from.

My name is Cristina De Fabritis, a recent graduate in International Development at York University.

In my role as Youth Ambassador for the Toronto region, I am committed to establishing a long-term partnership with Development and Peace — Caritas Canada (DPCC) and Ontario universities to sustain youth engagement for young adults.

My aim is to inspire youth action by participating in campaigns and volunteer initiatives that recognize the dignity of the human person in the lives of citizens in the Global South that DPCC supports.

Mary ENOMFON ASUQUO and Ivanna KHORUZHENKO

WESTERN CANADA

My name is Mary Enomfon Asuquo.

I am a final-year political science student at the University of British Columbia.I am continually inspired by Canadian youth who are striving for change, and I want to enliven that passion by joining in global solidarity to eliminate all injustice.

As the Vancouver Youth Ambassador, I am committed to supporting schools, parishes, and local communities in fostering education and awareness about the issues facing Canadians and the world.

My name is Ivanna Khoruzhenko.

I am a psychology student at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. I have a passion for film photography and music in my free time. But most importantly, I love people, community, and connecting them as a whole!
