Development and Peace – Caritas Canada is a movement of over 13,000 registered members who are part of a global community committed to achieving justice and equity for all.
By participating in the democratic life of Development and Peace — Caritas Canada, our members influence the direction, the composition, and the activities of the organization.
Our members come together in local groups, diocesan councils and regional assemblies.
Every five years, our members gather at an Orientation Assembly to engage in a synodal decision-making process on the general direction of Development and Peace — Caritas Canada as a movement.
The National Council, composed of 15 directors elected by the grassroots membership, is the main decision-making body of Development and Peace — Caritas Canada.
These 15 directors are volunteers, with a profile of expertise and experience established by the board, which allows them to successfully fulfill their role.
