Reel Justice badge

How to earn the "Reel Justice" badge?

Reel Justice badge

Challenge:

Attend a Reel Justice Film Festival screening or host a social justice themed movie event of your own.

The Diocese of Hamilton’s Library and Archives, in partnership with Development and Peace — Caritas Canada’s Hamilton Diocesan Council, have been hosting a Reel Justice Film Festival for nearly a decade now, and we want you to join us!

Badge Instructions:

You can earn this badge in one of two ways:

Film Screening Icon

Join one of the Reel Justice Film Festival’s virtual screenings

Check out their line-up here and continue the conversation as a class or club.

(Psst! The March screening is dedicated to kid-friendly movies that introduce social and global justice concepts in fun and accessible ways.)

Home Movie Popcorn icon

Host your own Reel Justice Film screening

Check out the list of film recommendations here below, including details like where to rent them, grade levels, and post-film lesson plans to keep the conversation going.

Whether you watch the film as a class, a club, or host an after-school event, we recommend making popcorn. 🙂

Bonus:

Is there a local guest you can invite to your school to be a post-film speaker? If you’re learning about an ecological justice issue, maybe it’s someone from the Eco Team. If you’re learning about a social issue, maybe there’s a graduate from your school who now works in that same field.

Have any films you think we should add to the list? We’d love to hear from you! Please email us at Youth.Jeunesse@devp.org.
