Two years of solidarity after the earthquake in Morocco

On September 8, 2023, Morocco was rocked by a 6.9 magnitude earthquake whose epicentre was near Marrakech. The country’s deadliest earthquake since 2004, it killed 2,946 people and injured 5,674 others, according to official data.

Development and Peace ― Caritas Canada responded to the appeal that Caritas Morocco launched to provide rapid assistance to the victims. Two years on, we present an overview of the results achieved in partnership with Caritas Morocco and of the challenges that remain in the areas most affected by the earthquake.
