Three Ways for families to experience Lent with Development and Peace

To help families celebrate Lent together, we offer an array of tools that promote action and reflection during a time when we are called upon to open our hearts. Living Lent with Development and Peace is an excellent way to address issues of international solidarity and social justice, while reflecting and praying in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in the Global South. Here are three ways of experiencing Lent with Development and Peace:

1. A Solidarity Calendar to inspire daily action

Every day through Lent, children are invited to sail the Amazon River to learn about, reflect on, pray for and act in solidarity with the peoples of the Amazon and the Earth, our common home. Download the calendar from our website or follow us on Facebook and Instagram!

2. Family reflections for Lenten Sundays

Share lent family bulletin

How can we support each other on our journey through Lent? What keeps us from including those who are often left behind? To whom can we show love and compassion on a daily basis?

The Family Bulletin offers reflections that link Gospel readings with themes in the Development and Peace campaign. This Lent, in light of the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon Region, we are inviting you to show your solidarity with the guardians of the Amazon rainforest and to care for our common home. Download the Family Bulletin!

3. THINKfast: A life-changing experience

Think Fast

THINKfast is an awareness-raising and fundraising activity for young people in the form of a 25-hour fast. Youths participate in THINKfast to show solidarity with people in the Global South. While raising funds for projects that support these people, the young broaden their understanding of structures that perpetuate poverty and injustice. Discover all you need to know to create your own family’s THINKfast or to rally others interested in making a difference.
