While it has recognized the state of Palestine, Canada has done little to curb what Prime Minister Mark Carney has recognized as Israel’s “unrelenting policy of settlement expansion in the West Bank” or its assault on Gaza that has “killed tens of thousands of civilians, displaced well over one million people, and caused a devastating and preventable famine in violation of international law.”
With the war on Gaza now about to enter its third year, we at Development and Peace ― Caritas Canada have published a new report on the heartbreaking situation in Palestine, our advocacy for the Palestinian people and our partners’ valiant work of bringing relief and dignity to the war-ravaged and dispossessed people of Gaza and the West Bank.
On behalf of our partners and the people they serve, we thank our donors and supporters; the Government of Canada; and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank for their invaluable contributions, without which the work described in this report would not have been possible. We urge all Canadians of good conscience to continue supporting the people of Palestine with solidarity, advocacy and generosity.
