This morning, an Israeli Defence Forces operation killed at least eight people in the West Bank city of Jenin. Developments like these belie Pope Francis’s “profound hope that all will refrain from initiatives and actions which contradict the stated desire to reach a true agreement, and that peace will be pursued with tireless determination and tenacity.”
In addition to resulting in deaths and injuries, such actions impede the work of humanitarian agencies and thereby additionally harm the people whose welfare depends on them.
Development and Peace ― Caritas Canada supports the statement issued by Caritas Jerusalem and joins its sister agency in the call “to pray for peace and safety.”
