In this Jubilee year, we are called to be Pilgrims of Hope. That is why we invite you to organize a walk in your community to show solidarity with our sisters and brothers in countries of the Global South that face debt crises.
This walk would be an opportunity to raise awareness among Canadians and reflect together on the consequences of debt.

Your itinerary can actually include these four places, or you can opt for a shorter pilgrimage, stopping four times to reflect together on the information in the fact sheets below.
A pilgrimage can take place at any time this fall, but we encourage organizing an event on Sunday, November 16, 2025, the day of the Jubilee of the Poor. At this key moment in global mobilization, we will be present with civil society organizations from around the world at the COP30 summit in Brazil. It will be an opportunity to Turn Debt into Hope by being visible and demanding the cancellation of the unjust debts of the Global South.
For more information, check out the resources we offer, including the Guide for walks and posters that you can stick on signs to accompany pilgrims in their reflections.
At the end of the pilgrimage, you can even do a Relay of Hope, passing a candle flame from one person to another and saying a message of solidarity to people facing the challenges of living in heavily indebted countries.
Don’t forget to ask participants to sign the petition. Have paper copies on hand, or ask people to scan the QR code on the campaign poster to sign the petition online.
Enjoy your walk!
