Lent is a time of fasting, prayer and sharing. For Development and Peace — Caritas Canada, it is an opportunity to call on your generosity in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in the Global South.
Your contributions create a bridge of solidarity between our mobilization in the Global North and our partners’ transformative work in the Global South.
This Lent, join us On Track for Justice, walking hand in hand with communities in the Global South that are mobilizing so that their rights and the environment may be respected.
If you missed our launch webinar, which took place on February 21, 2026, with our guests from Brazil, feel free to watch the recording.
To learn even more about the campaign, attend a workshop in your area. Visit our events page to explore sessions, dates and details.
Your donation to our Share Lent campaign builds a bridge of generosity between the Global North and the people in the Global South whom our partners serve.
Become a Share Year-Round monthly donor or increase your monthly contribution during Lent, i.e., between Ash Wednesday (February 18) and Pentecost (May 24), to have your total annual donation (or increase) matched dollar for dollar!
Being recurring and predictable, monthly donations reduce our administrative costs and allow us better to plan for longer-term transformative work.
“Justice becomes concrete when it reaches out to others, when each person is given their due, until equality in dignity and opportunity among human beings is achieved.”
— Pope Leo XIV

Our partner Justiça nos Trilhos (Justice on Rails, JnT) supports communities affected by the Carajás railway, which connects one of world’s largest iron ore mines in the state of Pará to the port of São Luis in the state of Maranhão.
This Lent, we will meet communities whose lives are affected by the railway, mining and industrial agriculture. We will learn how they are resisting to simply exist on their lands, to defend human rights and to protect the environment.
Our peer-to-peer fundraising platform is back! Help us launch it by starting your online fundraising page!
Participate in a THINKfast or simply create your individual or team fundraising page. Every gesture—every donation—counts and will support our sisters and brothers in the Global South who are working to build a world of justice.
This Lent, we are delighted to welcome Padre Dario Bossi, a Comboni Missionary who was the coordinator of the Iglesias y Minería ecumenical network and an advisor to the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil and the Pan-Amazonian Ecclesial Network (REPAM‑Brazil). In his capacities as parish priest for the community of Piquiá de Baixo and coordinator of Justiça nos Trilhos, Padre Dario dedicated his life to accompanying and defending communities along the Carajás rail corridor that are affected by mining and industrial pollution and other social injustices.
Padre Dario will be visiting Montreal, Toronto and the province of Saskatchewan from February 14 to 23, 2026. Stay tuned for details of his itinerary and activities.

Spread the word about the Share Lent campaign in your community and encourage donations with our many resources: poster, Mini-magazine, Solidarity Calendar, short talk, parish bulletin announcements, prayers of the faithful, Way of the Cross, weekly reflections, promotional banners and more!
