Make global justice a campaign issue in the 2019 federal elections

Development and Peace — Caritas Canada invites you to participate actively in Canada’s democratic life by meeting the candidates in your riding and by encouraging your families and friends to vote on Monday, October 21, 2019 or before then, in an advance poll.

The new 2019 Federal Election Guide can be used to ask your local federal candidates how they plan to protect the Earth, reduce global inequality, and address the needs of the world’s most vulnerable women, men, and children. Featuring three current issues which are priorities for Development and Peace (mining justice, climate justice, and forced migration), the guide provides questions you can pose to candidates at all-candidates debates as well as when you meet them when they are campaigning in your neighborhood. This will ensure that the most urgent global justice issues facing communities in the Global South are campaign issues this year. Additional resources can be found at the end of the Guide.

Through Development and Peace’s advocacy work, both on Parliament Hill but also in ridings across the country, we can influence Canadian laws and policies in order to have a positive impact on the lives of the poorest people and the planet.
