Cookie policy and Google Analytics

We use cookies and Google Analytics to optimize our website, collect statistics on usage and measure our audience to provide a user-friendly service.

Cookies are small files downloaded by your Internet browser and stored on your computer when you visit our website for the first time. These cookies are used on the Development and Peace – Caritas Canada website. They are anonymous and in no way collect personal information. They allow us to analyze the use of our site to improve your browsing experience on future visits.

We will retain cookies only for as long as is necessary to achieve the relevant purposes set out in this cookie policy, including marketing and statistical purposes.

The cookies we use

Cookies categorized as “necessary” are stored on your browser. They are essential to enable basic website functionality, for example, login functionality, load balancing, navigation, and form filling. The website cannot function properly without these cookies.

“Preference” cookies allow us to store information that modifies the behavior or appearance of the website, such as your preferred language, region, video and audio settings.

We also use third-party cookies to help us analyze how you use our website, record your preferences, pre-fill certain fields and provide you with content and advertising relevant to your interests. These cookies will only be stored in your browser with your prior consent.

Different cookie functions
  • Temporary session cookies remain on your device until you close your Web browser. Many session cookies are essential to the operation of our Web site, as they generally allow you to move around our site and use our features;
  • Persistent cookies: these remain on your device after you close your browser or until you manually delete it. Persistent cookies help us recognize you as an existing user of our website. This makes it easier and more convenient for you to return to our website or interact with our services. In addition, persistent cookies also help us recognize you when you visit a resource on our website from another website or application (such as an advertisement) and help us record information about your web browsing habits for the lifetime of the persistent cookie;
  • Statistical cookies: allow us to understand how visitors interact with our website by collecting and reporting information anonymously;
  • Marketing cookies are used to track visitors to our Web site. The aim is to display advertisements that are relevant and attractive to the individual user and therefore more useful to third-party publishers and advertisers;
  • Social network cookies: our website integrates functionalities from third-party sites, including certain social networks. These may sometimes be accompanied by scripts or other features that read and sometimes place cookies from these social networks on your device. These cookies may be used to personalize advertising messages.

Please note that we do not control the cookie settings used by social networks. However, if you do not want your information collected through cookies, most browsers will allow you to refuse or disable them.

Accepting or rejecting the use of cookies

On your first visit to our website, you will be offered three options: accept all cookies, save my preferences or refuse all cookies.

Development and Peace – Caritas Canada is committed to taking the necessary measures to protect the personal information provided by each visitor, such as IP addresses and pages visited.

Managing cookies and your choices.

Most browsers allow you to manage the cookies that are stored on your computer; however, each browser’s configuration is different.

The procedure for modifying your choices regarding cookies is described in your browser’s menu. However, any changes you make may affect your Internet browsing experience and your access to certain services requiring the use of cookies.

You have the option of configuring your devices to accept all cookies, to notify you when a cookie is issued, or never to accept any cookies at all. However, this last option may mean that certain personalized services cannot be provided and that you may not be able to take full advantage of all the functionalities offered by our Web site.
