Solidarity Sunday is an integral part of Development and Peace — Caritas Canada’s Share Lent campaign, a tradition since 1968. On this day, parishes across Canada hold a special mass and a collection that gives Canadian Catholics a means of standing in solidarity with the most vulnerable communities in the Global South by supporting our work.
So that pandemic-related public health measures do not disrupt the much-loved Solidarity Sunday tradition, we are taking things online this year.
On your screens and in your hearts
Development and Peace has partnered with Salt + Light Media to bring you a live cast of a national Solidarity Sunday mass at 1 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, March 21, 2021.
The Most Rev. Guy Desrochers, Bishop of Pembroke, will preside over the hour-long bilingual mass, which will be celebrated in St. Columbkille’s Cathedral, Pembroke, Ont. A 30-minute presentation on our mission will precede the mass.
The mass can be watched live:
- On television (see channel options)
- On the Salt + Light website
- On our website
Please tune in and join thousands of fellow Catholics from across the country in prayer and in expressing solidarity with our sisters and brothers in the Global South.
